Re: User:Dodger67; the LEDE|lede should highlight what the person is notable for. According to the text, she modeled for about a year as a teenager before going to ballet school then pursuing an acting career. I don't see any references to suggest that she had any notability as a model prior to her acting career. OhNoitsJamie Talk 22:25, 7 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

chronology, under 2016 heading is a paragraph "In 2019" 2600:1700:CDA0:1060:6C6A:7D7F:24D0:A6A6 (talk) 00:45, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Nationality

[edit]

I see significant discussion on nationality on this page, as on many other pages. Despite common parlance of putting a hyphen between nationalities, MOS:ETHNICITY clearly indicates that in these situations "and" is placed between them. Hyphens are ambiguous on whether they refer to ethnicity or nationality, while "and" more clearly shows independent importance to both nationalities. Reads phony (phonily?)

[edit]

The overall tone of this entry is that of a PR piece. It sounds like it was written by her agent—or her. 2601:643:8D00:970:78E9:90E2:A9DF:2672 (talk) 07:17, 3 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Pronunciation of Theron

[edit]

The Afrikaans pronunciation is written in this article as [ˈtrɔn], but according to the Wikipedia article on Afrikaans the language has no vowel [ɔ], and in two recordings that are available on the net of her saying her name in its Afrikaans pronunciation she clearly says [ˈtron] or [ˈtroːn]. Can someone explain why it's transcribed the way it is? Shouldn't it be changed? Linguistatlunch (talk) 14:00, 27 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Bad grammar

[edit]

BAD grammar on here as usual in the sentence structure of: "..lived on the $300 budget her mother had given her.." and following two sentences. Rewrite this. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 107.129.97.80 (talk) 05:17, 3 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's not the best writing, but I don't see any grammar issues. Why don't you make the corrections you see fit to be made? Ghost writer's cat (talk) 17:57, 26 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

"Career hiatus and fluctuations" and "Resurgence"?

[edit]

Not sure why these sections are their own sections, or titled as such. Both just go on with her performances during the periods noted. The first does mention a hiatus... of all of two years. Is that really noteworthy? There is another gap of that duration, but it's not noted. Unless she stated she was taking a break from acting for a while, it's not news-- she just didn't get hired. And what are these "fluctuations"? Fluctuations in what?

The next section, Resurgence, implies she fell off in popularity, but considering she'd continued to work and even received significant recognition the year prior, this is misleading. These headings sound like they came out of People magazine, trying to pump up drama where it doesn't exist. I guess this ties into the other comment about the whole entry sounding phony.
